Hemp Hearts Protein Balls

 The Afternoon comes around and you are feeling like a sweet snack but wanting to keep it healthy?! Want to know how to use hemp hearts in your day to day baking and cooking?

These Hemp Hearts Protein balls are delicious way to incorporate hemp hearts into your diet and kick that sweet craving!

Hemp Hearts Protein Balls

  • 1 cup packed pitted dates 
  • 2 cups raw walnuts
  • 6 Tablespoon cacao powder or unsweetened cocoa powder 
  • 6 Tablespoon hemp seeds (We recommend our Leawood Hemp Hearts ;) )
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 3 Tablespoon creamy almond butter or your favourite Nut butter
  • 1 Tablespoon of melted coconut oil

Instructions:

  1. Place the dates into the food processor pulse until they are finely chopped, remove dates, place in a spare bowl and put aside
  2. Add the walnuts into the food processor and pulse until it resembles a fine a meal. Add in 4 Tbsp of our Leawood Hemp Hearts, Cacao powder and sea salt. Pulse mixture until combined. Be careful not to pulse too much as the walnuts may turn into butter.
  3. Add the dates, almond butter (nut/seed butter) and melted coconut oil into the food processor. Pulse to combine ingredients, it should resemble a moist dough, if too moist you can add in some more hemp seeds or cocoa!
  4. Place mixture into the fridge until firm enough to be able to roll a ball without it being sticky. Use a tablespoon to scoop out rounded amounts, roll them into balls.
  5. Place extra hemp seeds into onto a plate and carefully roll each ball in them. To mix it up you can roll half of the bites into hemp seeds and the other half into cocoa for a different texture.
  6. Store bites in airtight container and refrigerator for up to 7 days in or in the freezer for 1 month.
  7. Enjoy as a healthy afternoon snack or an after-dinner treat!
